Will the Filipino Driver Make the Big Jump From Internal Combustion Engine to Hybrids or EVs?

Cars running on petrol or gas has been driven by drivers in the Philippines for generation, development of drivable electric vehicles is making headway as car companies are pushing for a cleaner and greener auto.

Some have taken the plunge and are driving hybrids which have ICE and electric motors installed. For some its the best move they ever made as Gen Xer's are taking the plunge to electric or hybrids.

But for many who have driven a stick and no automatic shifting yet, this might be disconcerting. Its not becoming an old foggy but cars ran by gas or diesel engines has a hold on many many drivers.

Here's what could be daunting for others to accept EVs and Hybrids are on the way, It only a matter of time!

1. Think of an electric car as vehicle that doesn't emit fumes each time the accelerator is stepped on. No more vroooooom! Because servos move the wheel and think of Logan's run as in the 70's TV show that portrayed the future.

2. Get more concerned if the driver is a gearhead that likes tweaking the engine and moving engine parts. An EV is simpler to assemble than a traditional car!

3. An EV will never be like muscle cars or roadsters because its a simplified platform for the auto of the future.

4. No more lining up at the pump and zipping away fast, electric chargers take time! Especially if its not fast charger that is not widely available in the Philippines.

Are these examples applicable to traditional drivers who want a gas guzzling motor? The Filipino driver will decide later if an EV or Phev could be acceptable later on.
